Newstalgia Motors Presents Car No. 00172:
1961 Chevrolet Impala SS Convertible 409, 4-Speed
This Impala has found a new home!
However, we'd be happy to locate another one just for you.
Details:
- Exterior: The laser-straight and rust-free body panels on this
Impala SS Convertible are a testament to the car having spent the first of its 43
years in the "dry" Spokane area of eastern Washington. It was in storage for 18
of those years until 2004 when the current owner purchased it. Originally painted
code 936 Ermine White, the car has had only 1 re-paint done in the early '80s to
code 923 Roman Red with the sphere painted Ermine White. All trim was removed and
lacquer was used resulting in a stunning exterior finish with no evidence of the
prior color change. Condition of the chrome and trim is outstanding. The power convertible
top, motor and hose set are also NEW.
- Interior: The showroom condition Red and White interior is free
of any blemishes, rips, tears or stains. The seats feature NEW period correct heat
sealed 1" pleats with fake stitch embossing that is made to look like a true 1961
Impala interior. The factory correct red loop carpeting is also NEW. Door panels
are original. All painted surfaces of the interior have been refreshed to look showroom
new.
- Engine and Driveline: The 1965 409 cid/360 hp motor was professionally
rebuilt with less than 3,000 miles. Many NEW and high quality rebuilt parts to include
the solid lifter cam, water pump, fuel pump, battery, clutch and release bearing,
etc. Extreme care was taken to ensure that all original 1961 409 parts were correct
and refreshed to appear as they did when leaving the factory: Carter AFB carburetor,
air cleaner, intake manifold, exhaust manifold, radiator, shroud and fan.
The chassis and suspension have all major components that move or wear replaced:
NEW complete brake system front and rear, upper and lower ball joints, upper and
lower A-frame bushings, Delphi power steering, (saved the old parts), shocks front
and rear, rear leaf springs, rebuilt rear differential with NEW 3.73:1 ring and
pinion set.
- Wheels & Tires: Original Wheels with NEW factory wheel covers,
spinner hubcaps and tires.
This is one of the finest, investment grade, survivor '61 Impala SS 409 Convertibles
around and now you know what the Beach Boys meant as they sang: "She's real fine,
my 409" and a legend was born.
