Newstalgia Motors Presents Car No. 00162:
1978 Porsche 911SC Targa
This Targa has found a new home!
However, we'd be happy to locate another one just for you.
1978 Porsche 911SC Targa Build Sheet:
- Exterior: The rare and original European color of Petrol Blue Metallic
shows very well. There are a small number of minor chips and paint areas that appear
to be bubbling from the undercoat. According to the owner, a Euro paint shop expert
inspected these blemishes and determined they have been caused, not by rust, but
by using the wrong undercoat/primer prior to application of Porsche factory paint
or there was moisture in the air line of the sprayer when the car was repainted.
The only small "dent" is a quarter size ding in the top right fender near the hood
(high definition photos of these areas are available). The body has absolutely no
rust or body filler and the floor pans are solid as are the rocker panels, quarters,
doors, etc.
- Interior: The Black Leather interior of this car is remarkably
well preserved for the age of the car. The only item needed is replacement of the
original factory speakers. The headliner of the removable Targa roof showing its
age, which is quite common for 911 Targas of this era.
- Driveline: The numbers matching SOHC 3.0L Flat-6 and 5-speed transmission
are in excellent mechanical condition with no fluid leaks. The owner has upgraded
the original equipment, factory rubber hub-type clutch assembly with the superior
coil spring disc hub design. Also, the original cam chain tensioners have been replaced
with the new design pressure-fed cam chain tensioners.
- Wheels & Tires: Tires are in very good condition with the front:
205/55VR16 and rear: 225/50ZR16.
This 911SC Targa is quite presentable as it is and offers no excuses as a great
buy for a classic solid "driver" 911SC.
