Newstalgia Motors Presents Car No.
1948 Mercury Custom Convertible
Starting with a rust and Bondo free 1948 original Mercury Convertible, "King of the Mild Customs" Jack White (Jack White Restorations) and Norm Francis Street Rods converted this car into an award-winning custom. Features include a total frame-off restoration with numerous body modifications and totally custom body work: top chopped 4 inches, hood sectioned, fenders cut and moved back six inches, frenched head and taillights. Hood, doors and trunk shaved and smoothed, slightly tubbed rear, doors have no visible hinges, all mechanical parts hidden, custom grille, and the list goes on and on… Practically flawless original Algryst German Ferrari Red finish with no clear coat, always garaged and never washed with cold water – luke warm only! Mercedes black cloth top with glass rear window. Battery kill switch and charger receptacles. Extremely well detailed and color coordinated engine bay.
Upholstery is Gray double stitched leather and wool tweed, custom bucket seats, wool rugs, hand-made rolled dash, custom console, Vintage Air AC and Heat, very high-end Eclipse stereo system with amplifier behind back seat, electric windows in front doors.
Power comes from a well-detailed, 350 cu. in. Small Block Chevy engine, custom air cleaner and valve covers, mated to a TH-400 transmission, stainless headers and mufflers, disc brakes all on four corners, Mustang II front end, Flaming River power rack and pinion steering, 9 inch ford rear end with 3.50 gears, 4-link and coil over shock suspension. Original frame boxed at all stress points. Boyd Coddington 15" one-off custom wheels.
This one-off, national award winning streetrod not only shows extremely well, but can be driven comfortably and reliably coast to coast!
