This is a stunning example of a '61 Impala SS 2-Door Sedan. Not to be mistaken for the common "Bubble Top" 2-door Hardtop model, the Impala SS 2-Door Sedan was only available in 1961, very low production and rarely ordered. Our Impala is presented as a dealer installed, numbers and dates correct, SS performance and appearance package consisting of the mandatory 348 cubic-inch 350 horsepower Special High Performance V8 with Tri-Power, 4-Speed manual transmission, and heavy duty springs and shocks. A fresh three-year total restoration by the current and third owner costing $85,000 has this 1961 Chevrolet Impala SS Sedan in top show quality form.

Starting with a totally rust-free car, the painstaking restoration involved all bright work, stainless and chrome redone, all body panels precisely fitted and panel gaps uniformly aligned, and the body flawlessly finished in the factory original and correct Fawn Beige and Cobonna Cream polyurethane paint. The car is completely loaded with all available options including tinted glass, fender skirts, courtesy lamps, side window visors, power steering and brakes, 1" whitewall tires with spinner hubcaps, positraction rear axle, and much more. The paint work inside the engine bay is just as spectacular as the bodywork with correct factory finishes throughout.

The show quality interior is expertly fitted in the correct NOS Fawn cloth and vinyl upholstery and dark beige carpet. A factory correct (1961 only) Sun tachometer counts the RPMs, factory AM radio (Pioneer AM/FM CD Changer with Remote is neatly concealed in the glove box), factory correct console and floor shifter, complete the package. All painted interior surfaces have been beautifully refinished.

Engine and Driveline
The factory correct Special High Performance 348 cid/350 hp has 11.25 to 1 compression, solid lifter cam, totally functioning Tri-Power carburetion and choke, original Tri-Power air cleaner, and dual point distributor. The correctly dated Borg Warner 4-speed transmission is fresh and shifts without any unwarranted noises. A new heavy duty radiator and clutch fan was also added along with the date and numbers correct positraction rear differential.

Looking at this particular 1961 Impala SS 2-Door Sedan makes it easy to understand why these models are one of the most highly sought after cars of this single year body style and considered a scarce collectible today.
