Starting with a totally rust-free car, the painstaking restoration involved all bright work, stainless and chrome redone, all body panels precisely fitted and panel gaps uniformly aligned, and the body flawlessly finished in the factory original and correct Fawn Beige and Cobonna Cream polyurethane paint. The car is completely loaded with all available options including tinted glass, fender skirts, courtesy lamps, side window visors, power steering and brakes, 1" whitewall tires with spinner hubcaps, positraction rear axle, and much more. The paint work inside the engine bay is just as spectacular as the bodywork with correct factory finishes throughout.
The show quality interior is expertly fitted in the correct NOS Fawn cloth and vinyl upholstery and dark beige carpet. A factory correct (1961 only) Sun tachometer counts the RPMs, factory AM radio (Pioneer AM/FM CD Changer with Remote is neatly concealed in the glove box), factory correct console and floor shifter, complete the package. All painted interior surfaces have been beautifully refinished.
Engine and Driveline
The factory correct Special High Performance 348 cid/350 hp has 11.25 to 1 compression, solid lifter cam, totally functioning Tri-Power carburetion and choke, original Tri-Power air cleaner, and dual point distributor. The correctly dated Borg Warner 4-speed transmission is fresh and shifts without any unwarranted noises. A new heavy duty radiator and clutch fan was also added along with the date and numbers correct positraction rear differential.
Looking at this particular 1961 Impala SS 2-Door Sedan makes it easy to understand why these models are one of the most highly sought after cars of this single year body style and considered a scarce collectible today.
