Newstalgia Motors Presents Car No. 00218:

1932 Ford Model B Roadster

1932 Ford Model B Roadster

For the discerning hot rod collector, presents a rare opportunity to purchase the legendary "Dick Miller 1932 Ford Model B Roadster".

This gorgeous red full-fendered 1932 Ford Roadster has quite a storied history dating back to the mid-seventies. The car was built by street rodder and world famous Bonneville land speed record holder Jerry Kugel, of Kugel Komponents fame, for the late land speed racer and World Champion hydro boat racer, Dick Miller. Dick came up with the idea and design of some cars for a series of Reproduction Hot Rods.

Unfortunately, Dick was killed in 1988 at the Dry Lake Beds at El Mirage attempting to set a record in a Streamliner. Dick’s racing career also included sprints, stock cars, and dragsters. He also was the sponsor of the world famous fuel altered dragster “The Mob”. Dick had sold his Ford dealership and had gone back to land speed racing in his last few years. There is a feature film being made about the life story of Dick and his family. His son is the current owner.

This esteemed roadster went on to become one of the cars that were built in a series titled "Build Your Own Repro Street Rod" featured on the cover and in the October, 1977 issue of HOT ROD Magazine. To celebrate HOT ROD's 65th anniversary in 2013, the magazine held the HOT ROD Homecoming March 23 and March 24 at the Fairplex in Pomona, California; a gathering of all the old HRM feature and cover cars they could find. This car was displayed in the event and is now an official 65 Year HOT ROD Magazine Anniversary car!

  • Exterior: Jerry Kugel began the build using one of the highest quality fiberglass and steel-reinforced bodies along with set of replacement fenders built by Wescott's Auto Body. The original Vibrant Red lacquer finish is very presentable with little evidence of wear and tear. All brightwork is in remarkable condition.
  • Interior: The all new interior features supple Tan Leather, Black Carpet, with a rumble seat/trunk in back. A custom mahogany steering wheel and AM/FM Stereo with CD changer add the right touch for cruising. All instruments and electrical components are in their proper working condition.
  • Engine and Driveline: Dick Miller decided to use a 425 h.p. motor that was built by Pro Stock drag racing champion, Bob Glidden. This motor was based on a NASCAR Ford Racing Boss 351 cu. in. small block featuring four bolt mains, high nodular iron crankshaft, solid lifter camshaft with screw in studs, adjustable rockers, and an aluminum four barrel intake, etc. This bullet is backed by a venerable C6 3-speed automatic built automatic transmission and narrowed Ford 9" rear end. Up front is the standard 4-inch chrome tube dropped axle, leaf spring, 4-bars and panhard system with a Mustang steering box; all nicely polished and chrome plated.
